Strayer Grad Planner Tool
Helping students plan their weekly coursework around their daily schedule
Year: 2022
Duration: 2 weeks
Role: Lead Product / UX Designer
Platform: Web
Challenge
UX studies indicated that flexibility and schedule is one of the biggest concerns for our prospects. The Grad Planner tool is a useful way for students to estimate what their daily and weekly course schedule could look like amongst all the other things that goes on in their lives like their full-time job and other commitments.
The biggest challenge for the design of this tool is how all the functionality and interface could be scaled down to the mobile viewport size. We managed to have the design and experience be responsive all the way down to the small iPhone SE size.
Challenges to be solved:
- How do we make the overall planning experience be streamlined and not too overwhelming
- Allow the flexibility to adjust the generated weekly calendar to match the
- The tool needs to be responsive and usable from desktop to mobile viewports
Process
The whole project was initially planned to occur on a typical 2-week Sprint. This includes initial analysis, brainstorming, wireframing all the way to a hi-def design and prototypes for all three target viewports (desktop, tablet, mobile)
Results
In terms of performance, this tool has managed to increase the success rate of our lead generation to almost 20% beating out the former top performer, the Personalized Education Planner tool . This prompted the decision to have the Grad Planner tool to be incorporated to more visible pages across Strayer.edu.
